Select one of the Saved Signatures from the drop down menu or manually enter a creator or type signature. File signature require four characters - no more, no less. Easily change the name of the file by entering a new name in the File Name text box.
File & Folder Flags:
When 'Invisible' is selected the currently active file does not to appear on the desktop. If you would like to make this file invisible then select the 'Invisible' box - be warned to make the file visible again you will have to select the file from the 'Open File...' menu item in the File menu.
When 'Inited' is selected then this item’s Finder flags have been recorded by the Finder. To have the Finder examine this files flags again then deselect this box.
When 'Use Custom Icon' is selected then the Finder uses a custom icon for this file. To have the Finder use the standard icon recorded in the Desktop Database then deselect this box. If there is no custom or standard icon available, the Finder will use the appropriate generic icon.
When 'Name Locked' is selected the the name of this file cannot be changed in the Finder. If you would like to be able to change the name of this file in the Finder then deselect this box.
When 'Shared' is selected this application is a shared application. This means that it can be executed by multiple users simultaneoulsy. If you do not want this application to be shared then deselect this box.
When 'Stationary' is selected this file is a stationery pad. When you open a stationery pad, you create a copy of the document. The original document remains unchanged. If you do not want this document to be stationary then deselect this box.
When 'Alias' is selected the file is an Alias. An Alias contains a record that point to a file, directory or volume represented by this file. (it is not recommended that you change this Finder flag).
When 'File Locked' is selected this file is locked and a locked file cannot be changed, renamed, or thrown away. If you would like to unlock this file then deselect this box.
When 'Has Bundle' is selected the file contains a bundle resource. The bundle resource associates the file with its own icons.
When 'No INITs' is selected the file contains an ‘INIT’ resource.
Created & Modified Dates:
The created date of a file tells the Finder when the file was created. You can modify the created date by selecting any one of the menu options in the drop down menu to the left of the created date.
The modified date of a file tells the Finder when the file was last updated. You can modify the modified date by selecting any one of the menu options in the drop down menu to the left of the modified date.
Changed Item Indicator:
FileLift displays a colored rectangle next to all items that have been modified. By selecting any one of these rectangles FileLift reverts that item back to its original setting.

Displays FileLift’s About... window, containing contact information and registration information.
File Menu:
Open File Info...
Display a directory box for choosing a file to send to FileLift’s file information window.
Close File Info
Close the currently active FileLift Information window.

Edit Menu:
Cut
Cuts the current selection and places it on the Clipboard.
Copy
Copies the current selection onto the Clipboard.
Paste
Inserts the contents of the Clipboard for the current selection.

Displays a dialog box in which you can set FileLift’s preferences.

About Balloon Help...
Display a dialog window with balloon help information.
Show Balloons - Hide Balloons
Shows or hides balloons.
FileLift Help...
Display a dialog window that contains FileLift help, version info, contact info, distribution info and order information.

Opens your default browser to Filelift internet help.
FileLift Preference:
Select 'Prompt User To Add Unknown Signatures' if you would like FileLift to prompt the user to add the unknown signature to the Saved Signatures drop down menu.
Select 'Display Splash Window' if you would like FileLift to display a Splash Window.
Select 'Warn Before Setting A File To Invisible' if you would like to be warned before setting a file to invisible.
Select 'Enable Lock or Unlock' if you would like to be a able to drag a group of files onto the FileLift icon while holding down the option key and have all the files locked if currently unlocked or unlocked if currently locked.
Select ‘Display Changes In File Info Window’ if you would like to see the changes you have made to the current window.
Select ‘Changed Item Indicator Color...’ button to change the color of the changed item indicator.
Select 'Enable Change All File's To This Kind' if you would like to be a able to drag a group of files onto the FileLift icon while holding down the command key and have all the files changed to the signature and Finder flags that are preset in the 'Enable Change All File's To This Kind' group box.
Saved Signature
The Saved Signature pop-up-menu in FileLift information windows allow the user to save the signature of any application. FileLift will try to determine the current file’s signature if it is saved.
